1st Annual Ayiti in the Heartland
We are excited to invite you to the 1st Annual Ayiti in the Heartland event, a celebration of Haitian culture, food, and music! Come join us on November 1st, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Indiana Landmarks’ Cook Theatre, located at 1201 Central Ave in Indianapolis.
This in-person event will immerse you in the vibrant spirit of Ayiti (Haiti) right here in the heartland. Enjoy traditional Haitian dishes, lively music performances, and cultural displays that showcase the rich heritage of this beautiful country. Whether you have roots in Ayiti or simply want to experience something new, this event is sure to capture your heart.
Event Highlights:
• Chef Djeepson from Labadee Restaurant will present a carefully curated selection of traditional Haitian dishes, bringing the flavors of Haiti to life.
• Akoustik, a celebrated band, will fill the night with rich, soulful sounds of Haitian music.
• Johnson Simon, a renowned Haitian artist, will display his artwork, showcasing the vibrancy of Haitian culture through his visual storytelling.
• We are proud to partner with The Haitian Times, a leading publication dedicated to highlighting Haitian news and culture, and Pillars of Haiti, along with Nan Lakou Indiana, both organizations committed to empowering the Haitian diaspora in the U.S.
The reception is free and non-transferable. Instead of charging a ticket fee, we are asking for donations (options include $25, $50, $100, $250, $1000, $2,500, or more) to help continue the work of the Dieudonne Foundation. Your contributions will go directly toward:
• Sponsoring bilingual doulas who provide culturally competent maternal care,
• Expanding our HIV education and awareness efforts, and
• Helping us address critical health disparities in our community.
Please RSVP and consider making a donation that will enable us to deepen our impact. No amount is too small, and every contribution brings us closer to our goal of a healthier, more equitable future for our community.
We look forward to celebrating with you and continuing our work together to support Black and BIPOC mothers and families in Indianapolis.
With gratitude,
Farah & Stephane Chéry
