Job Summary The State Archives Division of the Louisiana Secretary of State is seeking an Archives Specialist A, B or C in the Audiovisual Processing Section. This position is responsible for maintaining the multimedia collections as content manager. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies: Communicating Effectively: The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas. Developing Plans: The ability to prioritize tasks and competing demands to create accurate plans. Displaying Expertise: The ability to exhibit specialized skills or knowledge gained from experience or training Job Duties Establish techniques, procedures and policies for the appraisal and assessment of the historical value of audiovisual assets stored by or donated to the State Archives. Cataloging, accessioning, and inventorying of audiovisual collections in the care of the State Archives. Initial Analysis of audiovisual collections/equipment and schedules pickup of off-site audiovisual collections. Acts as content manager for the audiovisual databases, entering and editing metadata for access and preservation files in the databases. Participates in the reproduction of audiovisual holdings. Conducts research for documentaries and special programming. Identifies and provides content for the State Archives’ website and social media platforms to highlight audiovisual collections and promote the activities of the audiovisual processing section. Conducts and records interviews and oral histories. Qualifications Minimum Three years of experience in historical research, archival operations, records management, records preservation, or college-level teaching in a humanities field; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Preferred Ability to lift 40 pounds with or without accommodation. Knowledge of legacy audiovisual media and equipment. Experience using video editing/processing software including Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Media Encoder. Experience using the PBCore Metadata standard. Experience working with audiovisual collections in a production, archival, or library setting.
