Entry-Level Cable TechnicianOverview

Our client has multiple openings for Entry-Level Cable Technicians to support a large-scale data center cabling project. These technicians will work under the guidance of technicians and team leads to build out the cable infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity to learn structured cabling on a grand scale, including fiber optics, cable pathways, and server rack installation.

Responsibilities

• Pull and route cable/fiber throughout the data center using fish tape or other methods
• Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, dress, measure, label, and secure cables
• Suspend and support cable using trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required
• Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through penetrations
• Terminate low-voltage devices (Cat5, Cat6, fiber)
• Assist in building server racks and installing cable trays/pathways
• Follow blueprints and project documentation
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, work orders, material transfers, tool transfers, change orders, etc.)
• Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Cable installation (Cat5, Cat6, fiber)
• Structured cabling
• Cable pulling and routing
• Basic termination and punch-down skills
• Ability to follow prints and instructions

Qualifications

• Entry-level; no prior experience required—training provided
• Punctual, reliable, and a strong team player
• Flexible with work hours; must be willing to work extended shifts (10–12 hours/day, up to 6 days/week if needed)

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sandston, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
