Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and relationship-driven Commercial Real Estate Credit & Portfolio Analyst to join their growing credit team. This hybrid role offers a unique blend of analytical underwriting and hands-on portfolio management responsibilities. The Analyst will evaluate commercial real estate loans ranging from $3MM to $25MM across various property types, including multifamily, office, retail, and mixed-use developments.

In addition to credit analysis, the Analyst will manage an active loan portfolio—tracking risk trends, performing credit reviews, coordinating with internal teams and borrowers, and ensuring regulatory and policy compliance. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys both the technical side of credit and the interpersonal side of account servicing.

Key Responsibilities:

Credit Analysis & Underwriting (50%)

  • Analyze CRE loan applications by evaluating borrower financials, guarantor credit, collateral, and market conditions.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive credit memoranda and make data-driven recommendations on loan approvals or denials.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with lending policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Review third-party reports (appraisals, environmental assessments, property condition reports) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assign and maintain appropriate risk ratings throughout the life of the loan.

Loan & Portfolio Management (40%)

  • Oversee an assigned loan portfolio; monitor for payment trends, financial covenants, documentation status, and risk indicators.
  • Conduct annual reviews, site inspections, and credit reassessments, preparing timely updates for senior management.
  • Support construction lending processes, including draw reviews, lien tracking, and progress evaluations.
  • Track borrower financial submissions and ensure ongoing compliance with loan terms.
  • Provide monthly reporting on loan pipeline, exceptions, and portfolio performance.

Relationship Management & Compliance (10%)

  • Act as a liaison between the Credit Union and borrowers, delivering high-touch, professional service.
  • Coordinate loan closings, manage documentation workflows, and ensure regulatory checks (OFAC, flood zone, etc.).
  • Support Credit Union partners with policy guidance and collaborative solutions.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial real estate credit analysis or loan portfolio management.
  • Completion of a formal commercial credit training program strongly preferred.
  • Experience underwriting and managing loans for various CRE asset classes; hospitality a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction loan funding, borrower cash flow analysis, and risk rating methodologies.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook; knowledge of loan origination and credit systems (e.g., Baker Hill, FAMAS) preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of valuation methods (DCF, direct cap, IRR, debt yield).
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards (USPAP, OCC 12 CFR 34, HMDA, Reg B, BSA/AML, CERCLA).
