High-Level Description

The Cyber Security Business Analyst IV will serve as the primary liaison between cybersecurity technical teams (SOC, detection and design, technology and tools) and USUI application teams to enable comprehensive application logging for all in-scope USUI applications.
This role ensures seamless coordination between business and technical stakeholders to enhance security visibility, streamline monitoring, and strengthen incident response.

In addition, the analyst will work closely with the Project Manager to coordinate the implementation of Network Access Controls (NAC) and Silent Defense Continuous Threat Detection (CTD) sensors across IT and OT networks.

Key Accountabilities

Application Security Logging Enablement

• Act as the liaison between cybersecurity and application teams to translate technical logging requirements into clear, actionable deliverables.
• Gather, validate, and document security monitoring requirements in alignment with internal security standards.
• Develop and maintain an Application Security Logging Playbook to standardize engagement and ensure consistent communication of requirements.
• Maintain an updated understanding of the cybersecurity posture and attributes of in-scope applications (L1, L2, and external-facing).
• Collaborate with detection and design teams to define, test, and validate monitoring rules and response workflows.

Cyber Visibility & Incident Response Support

• Develop a Cyber Visibility Dashboard to measure endpoint protection coverage and monitoring visibility for all USUI assets and applications.
• Support the Security Operations Center (SOC) in incident response by expediting communication and escalation to relevant business owners and application teams.

Implementation Coordination – NAC & CTD Sensors

• Coordinate the deployment of Network Access Control (NAC) across USUI IT switches.
• Support deployment of Silent Defense CTD sensors at designated OT sites.

Ancillary Duties

• Provide coordination support to the Cyber Project Manager across multiple cybersecurity workstreams as required.

Scope

• Applications: All USUI applications with L1 and L2 business criticality (per CMDB) and all external-facing applications.
• Assets: IT and OT infrastructure and network assets.
• Security Objective: Ensure adequate monitoring visibility to enhance incident detection and response effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Business Analysis & Cybersecurity

• Strong grasp of both business analysis principles and cybersecurity monitoring processes (aligned with NIST CSF).
• Experience collaborating with or within a SOC environment.
• Deep understanding of NIST SP 800-92 – Guide to Computer Security Log Management.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux logs; experience analyzing application logs preferred.
• Familiarity with tools such as CrowdStrike, Tenable Nessus, Trellix Application Control , or equivalent.
• Understanding of cybersecurity risk management and mitigation strategies.

Access & Identity Management

• Knowledge of least privilege and role-based access control (RBAC) principles.
• Familiarity with authentication protocols including Kerberos , NTLM , and modern authentication frameworks .

Threat Detection

• Understanding of common attack vectors , particularly those targeting Active Directory environments.

Compliance & Legal Awareness

• Awareness of regulatory and data protection requirements relevant to cybersecurity.

Soft Skills

• Exceptional communication skills — able to bridge technical and non-technical discussions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision required.
• Collaborative, team-oriented, and adaptable.
