Job Title: Global Transportation Manager
Location: Remote - must live within driving distance to Thousand Oaks, CA
Employment Type: Contract (3 year contract)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Global Transportation Manager to join our logistics team. This role will serve as the transportation lead for a designated global region (Americas or EMEA), managing key supplier relationships and ensuring consistent, compliant, and cost-effective transportation operations. The ideal candidate brings a strong logistics background, excels at stakeholder communication, and thrives in a performance-driven, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the regional lead for transportation strategy and execution, supporting global initiatives across EMEA or the Americas.
- Manage Transportation Service Provider (TSP) relationships to ensure high service levels, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement GDP-compliant, cost-effective transportation solutions via direct management or through distribution hubs.
- Oversee the setup and monitoring of service-level agreements and performance metrics.
- Utilize data analytics (primarily Excel) to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and inform process improvements.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve issues, drive efficiencies, and maintain compliance.
- Support project management efforts across functions and geographies to enhance transportation capabilities.
- Act as a problem-solver and escalation point for transportation-related challenges.
- Maintain clear documentation and reporting aligned with regulatory and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Proven experience managing vendors or suppliers and driving process improvements.
- Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and trend identification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Solid project management skills with a global or multi-site perspective.
- Self-starter with a results-driven mindset and the ability to work independently.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or consumer goods industries.
- Familiarity with GMP and GDP regulations.
- Hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS); SAP TM a plus.
- Knowledge of Operational Excellence tools (e.g., Six Sigma, FMEA).
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Experience establishing and managing service level agreements (SLAs).
