About This Specialized Opportunity: As a 1099 contractor Intermodal Local/Regional Driver, you will be at the core of our container transport operations. You will be responsible for safely operating a day cab tractor truck, delivering intermodal containers (20', 40', and 45') to local and regional rail yards, ports, and customer locations. Our routes are specifically designed for intermodal efficiency, meaning driver unload is never required or expected , and you'll consistently be home every night! This role offers the perfect balance of challenging regional intermodal work with the comfort of daily home time.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Safely operate a heavy-duty tractor-trailer truck, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations, with a focus on intermodal operations.
Properly track and maintain your activity log and necessary documentation for container movements.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, promptly reporting any issues or incidents related to intermodal freight.
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, specifically tailored for intermodal equipment.
What We're Looking For (Qualifications):
Essential Experience: A minimum of 1 year of verifiable, hands-on intermodal driving experience is required.
Licensing: Possess a valid CDL Class A commercial driver's license .
Physical Capability: Ability to handle the physical demands of intermodal work, including climbing in and out of the truck and safely connecting/disconnecting chassis and containers.
Work Ethic: A strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to operate regionally and return home daily.
Safety Focus: A commitment to safe driving practices and adherence to all DOT regulations, particularly within intermodal environments.
