Ready to jump into a high-impact chemical engineering role supporting critical plant operations? We’re looking for a skilled Chemical Engineer to step into a one-year contract assignment at a major chemical manufacturing facility in the Geismar, LA area. This is a hands-on operations-focused role supporting water treatment, ammonia storage systems, and plant startup activities — perfect for an engineer who thrives on solving problems and keeping complex systems running smoothly.

🔧 What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll serve as the go-to technical resource for several essential plant systems:

Operational & Technical Support

• Perform routine monitoring of water treatment systems (Pretreatment, ROs, Cooling Towers).
• Oversee NH₃ storage operations including tanks, pumps, refrigeration compressors, condensers, and flare systems.
• Troubleshoot operational issues alongside operations, maintenance, reliability, and management.
• Manage media and resin changes to maintain strong water quality and system performance.
• Provide technical input for capital projects tied to water treatment and ammonia storage.
• Offer technical support for corrective actions and system improvements.

Process Safety & Compliance

• Participate in PSM activities including MOCs, PHAs, and PSSRs .
• Support plant startup activities — including willingness to work 12-hour shifts during NH₃ plant startup rotations.

Engineering Tools

• Utilize simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, HTRI, and PipeFlo for small heat exchanger work and system modeling.

🎓 What You Bring

• 5–10 years of experience as a degreed Chemical Engineer .
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across operations and maintenance teams.
• TWIC card (or ability to obtain one) .
• Hands-on experience in plant operations, troubleshooting, or process engineering.
• Familiarity with water treatment systems and ammonia storage operations.
• Solid understanding of PSM processes and documentation.
