About the team/role

Checkr is hiring a Senior SEO & AEO Manager to architect and scale our next chapter of organic growth across new and legacy search environments. As AI reshapes discovery, were investing in the systems, data, and technical foundations that future-proof how buyers find and evaluate Checkr. This role reports to the Website & SEO Manager and will own our B2B AI search strategy, while supporting SEO & AEO strategy across Checkrs full suite of products and brands.

Youll own, design, and execute our technical SEO strategyspanning log file analytics, crawl/index management, structured data strategy, and AI-driven automation. The ideal candidate is a technical SEO leader with deep B2B growth experience and hands-on AEO/LLM expertise. Youll evolve a high-performing search motion, bringing AI/AEO rigor to unlock the next stage of growth.

What youll do

  • Crawl & log file analysis Track and interpret bot behavior (Google, ChatGPT, etc.) via server logs to surface crawl inefficiencies, and prioritize opportunities to drive business impact.
  • Indexation & site structure Engineer site architecture, canonicalization, XML sitemaps, and robots directives to maximize crawlability and indexing across search engines.
  • Schema & structured data Design, deploy, and validate schema markup (FAQ, Product, Article, etc.) to increase rich result and AEO discoverability.
  • Performance optimization engineering Partner with development to improve page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, and domain-level technical settings to lift UX and SEO/AEO outcomes.
  • Automation & technical tool builder Develop automated workflows and tools (e.g., AirOps, custom GPTs/agents) to scale audits, QA, topic monitoring, and performance insights.
  • Cross-functional technical partner Collaborate with engineering, content, and product to embed SEO/AEO standards into roadmaps, releases, and web page QA.
  • Community & platform optimization support Advise on off-site channels (e.g., Reddit) for content structure, metadata, and link strategy to reinforce visibility and authority.

What you bring

  • Technical SEO depth: Comfortable moving from log insights to migration and architecture improvements.
  • B2B growth focus: You prioritize SEO/AEO projects by revenue impact and build journeys that convert B2B buyers.
  • AI fluency: Strong prompting/LLM understanding; you know how to structure clear prompts for advanced workflows and understand how to influence answer engine results.
  • Data-driven: Proficient with GA4 & Search Console with a working understanding of BI tools (e.g., Looker); SQL/Python is a plus.
  • Performance instincts: You understand website speed and performance metrics and partner well with designers, developers, and engineers.
  • Operator mindset: You build systems (dashboards, alerts, QA tools) that optimize workflows and help your programs scale efficiently.
  • Trusted collaborator: Effective communicator who partners with marketing, product, and operations stakeholders; comfortable leading cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Always improving: You automate the repeatable, prioritize critical initiatives, and raise the bar for best SEO/AEO practices.

Work location and compensation

At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. Our hub locations are Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and Santiago, Chile. Individuals are expected to work from the office 3 days a week. In-office perks are provided, such as lunch four times a week, a commuter stipend, and an abundance of snacks and beverages.

We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion. The base salary range for this role is $146,000 to $172,000 in San Francisco, CA.
