Job Overview

Seeking experienced technicians to support hands-on cable construction projects in the West Virginia market. Technicians will work in field crews alongside a lead and a fiber splicer, supporting underground and aerial installations across various environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Pull, install, and terminate coaxial and fiber optic cables
• Perform underground and aerial cable installations
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
• Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment (e.g., Fluke, OTDR)
• Collaborate with construction coordinators and field teams
• Maintain safety standards and follow PPE protocols
• Travel up to 30% with overnight stays (per diem and lodging provided)

Top Skills Required

• OSP Splicing Experience
  • 3+ years of coax or fiber splicing in telecommunications
  • Familiarity with coax sizes (.625/.875) and fiber ribboning
• Signal Work
  • Ability to splice, balance, activate, and troubleshoot forward/reverse signals
• Testing & Troubleshooting
  • Proficient with Fluke testers, OTDRs, and light meters

Additional Qualifications

• Understanding of coaxial cable color codes
• Experience terminating connectors and verifying signal quality
• Knowledge of conduit installation
• Familiarity with aerial lift bucket trucks and ladder safety
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Basic proficiency with email and MS Excel for project tracking
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to be punctual (7:00 AM start) and occasionally on-call
• Valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Experience (Not Required)

• Running, installing, and terminating fiber optic cables
• Fiber splicing experience
• Use of OTDR testers and light meters
• Crew management experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wellsburg, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
