About the Role
The Company is seeking a Treasurer to join its Board of Directors in a volunteer capacity. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting, finance, business, or nonprofit management, and a strong working knowledge of budgeting, compliance, and reporting. This leadership role requires a deep alignment with the organization's mission and values, particularly its trauma-informed approach. The Treasurer will be responsible for providing financial oversight, collaborating on budgets and long-term sustainability planning, and ensuring 501(c)(3) compliance. Key qualities for the role include a strong personal and/or professional network, charisma, integrity, and an ease with building authentic relationships. The Treasurer will also be expected to represent the organization publicly, contribute to a culture of fundraising, and be committed to a minimum of 6 hours per month of service. Candidates for the Treasurer position at the company should be prepared to make a 1-3 year commitment to board service and be available for occasional events. Experience in a board or executive/financial leadership role is highly valued. The role is not just about being good with numbers; it is about being a public-facing advocate for the mission and building systems that align with grassroots values. The Treasurer will work closely with the Executive Director and other board members, and must be adept at shaping internal financial systems with a focus on transparency and strategy. The company strongly encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, disabled, and formerly system-impacted individuals, to apply, reflecting its commitment to inclusivity and representation.
