This in-person event will immerse you in the vibrant spirit of Ayiti (Haiti) right here in the heartland. Enjoy traditional Haitian dishes, lively music performances, and cultural displays that showcase the rich heritage of this beautiful country. Whether you have roots in Ayiti or simply want to experience something new, this event is sure to capture your heart.Â
Chef Djeepson, a Haitian culinary artist from Labadee Restaurant, will bring the authentic flavors of Haiti to life at the event. With a deep passion for cooking, he has spent years perfecting traditional Haitian dishes, combining rich cultural influences with modern culinary techniques. Djeepson holds a Chemistry degree from Purdue University. His vibrant dishes are a testament to his dedication and love for Haitian cuisine, promising an unforgettable gastronomical experience for all.
Akoustik, a renowned band, will bring the night alive with soulful Haitian music. Co-led by Elder Charlot, whose unique blend of Haitian roots, blues, and Afro-Caribbean sounds defines the group’s style, Akoustik captivates audiences with energetic, rich performances. Elder has collaborated with stars like Youssoupha and Mr. Eazi, and his influence is felt in Akoustik’s rhythmic fusion of Caribbean pop, Afrobeats, and reggae. The band’s electrifying presence and soulful melodies continue to earn them fans globally, with Elder’s debut EP set for release in June 2025.
Johnson Simon, a celebrated Haitian artist based in Indianapolis, uses his art as a powerful medium of expression, overcoming the physical limitations of cerebral palsy. His vibrant works, rooted in Haitian culture, have been showcased at BUTTER Art Fair and housed in prominent spaces like his studio at the Harrison Center. Major companies such as Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Bank of America proudly display Johnson’s art, which tells a story of resilience, hope, and the beauty of his heritage.
